Project no. 4 - Retail
For this project, we were paired up to create a cashwrap and power wall design for the store, The Body Shop. This project was unique as we were entered in the PAVE Student Design Challenge and my team was chosen as the winner.
Our design was based on Global Connection and the process this store goes through in order to source their ingredients. We introduced this idea through the map located on the power wall and called out the individual locations each ingredient comes from. Our choice of materials related to this as well as they are a very natural shop and focus on the community and wellbeing of their customers. We chose to use wood, metal, white washed brick and greenery. For our impulse fixture design, we were inspired by the cargo ships and metal shipping containers that bring the ingredients to the US. The space and construction is symbolic of this idea.

Since our design was chosen as the PAVE Student Design Challenge winner, we had the opportunity to attend GlobalShop 2018 in Chicago where our designs were built out and showcased during the event. This was an amazing opportunity as we were able to learn so much more within the Retail Sector of design and we were able to see our design be built which was a great experience in itself.
