Project no. 5 - Restaurant

For this design, we were given an existing building in Florence, Italy called the Plus Hostel. This space would be renovated to have an entrance with host stand, dining area, bar and seating, kitchen, storage and staff spaces. This design was influenced by the Leonardo de Vinci conference being held at FUA during this time. Our concept then became harmony, as we were examining the Vitruvian Man. We utilized this concept in the naming of our space - Concentric Bar + Cafeteria, and also in the custom lighting design as well as the use of patterns and materials. We wanted to create a unique space that would promote a sense of community and allow all travelers to come together to share stories and information on their experiences and culture.
